Ok. I know it's a terrible picture, so you're just going to have to believe me when I say this is John Legend.
He did a free lecture / concert on campus.
We were in the balcony, hence the terrible picture.
The lecture portion was really fascinating.
The concert was enjoyable; although, the sound wasn't the greatest in the auditorium.
The lecture was mostly promoting his Show Me campaign (a nonprofit organization fighting poverty) and the plight of education in America. He really did make some excellent points.
We weren't really too familiar with his music, but it was fun to listen to. One student asked if he could beatbox with him on stage. It was definitely cool to be able to experience that.
Sadly, when we were waiting in line to get into the concert, one of the security guards stopped to ask us if we were faculty or staff. Guess we can't pass as college students (even though we are)!
I think they were anticipating a lot more people to attend and were limiting attendance to students only.
