59/365 - Birthday Continued

One of the birthdays we celebrated yesterday was my husband's. Tonight, we're going out for dinner at a nice restaurant downtown. I thought I'd dress a little nicer for work that I usually do.

58/365 - Happy Birthday

I know I've mentioned it before, but I generally am in charge of making dessert for family dinner on Sundays. Today, we're celebrating two birthdays in addition to the Oscars. I baked/decorated this delicious cake! I was so pleased with how yummy (and pretty) it turned out. :)

57/365 - Piano

I took piano lessons throughout junior high and most of high school. I wasn't the best at practicing regularly, but I did enjoy playing. When I first started college, I wanted to be a music major, so I could teach piano lessons out of my home. Some of the classes were harder than I expected, so I changed (several times) my major. I gave up my ambitions of teaching piano and quickly my piano playing went by the wayside.

I went years without playing the piano.

When we moved into our current apartment, I was determined to re-teach myself this skill. We purchased an electric piano, and I promised myself I would practice daily or at least a few times a week. As I was dusting it today while cleaning the apartment, I felt like a kid or a teenager who begs her parents for something she just. has. to. have. Puh-lease! I promise to use it every day! We all know how those bargains end.

And my piano playing suffered the same fate.

I really need to make this more of a priority. I would love to be able to re-learn this skill.

On another note, I really like how this picture turned out. I like the shading and the overall look and feel of it.

55/365 - Tilapia

For dinner tonight, I tried my hand at making fish. I'd gotten a recipe in my Inbox for Pecan-crusted Tilapia, which I thought sounded yummy. I was actually very pleased with the way this turned out. :)

I'm actually finding that I don't really mind mild, white, flaky fish too much. Tilapia, sea bass, walleye are a few I've tried in the past couple of months. Yummy! Jasper does have some issues with the texture of the fish. He said he wouldn't mind it as much if there was a bit more breading on the fillets to help change the texture a bit.

52/365 - Bath Time

Today turned out to be a very lazy day. We got a lot of snow yesterday, and it continued throughout most of the day today. We did get out for a short walk this afternoon. I even brought the camera, but for some reason, it decided not to turn on. Argh!

I still wasn't feeling the whole homework thing, so I took a bubble bath instead.
