216/365 - Petting Zoo

Every August, my school sponsors a neighborhood gathering.
Complete with free food and a petting zoo.

We didn't actually go into the zoo (it's more for the kids), but it was fun to look at the animals.
For such a small zoo, there was quite a fun variety.
Plus, they were giving pony rides, too.

211/365 - Ducks

Today, Jasper went for a scuba dive while I went for a 10-mile run.
It was super hot!
And humid!

While he was packing up his scuba gear, there were some cute little ducks that wandered into the campground.

This is not where we live,

but we did contemplate buying a condo in this building when we first got married.

I wonder, sometimes, how different our life would be right now, if we'd attempted that.

They are such gorgeous condos. If we never end up back here again, and are looking to buy a place, I think we'll definitely look into these.

Father's Day was spent at my parent's house. There was an airsoft battle in the evening.

My brother took a pellet right to the neck.

The final adventure of my weekend was spent hiking in a couple state parks.

This picture was a complete accident. I was adjusting the position of my camera and mistakenly hit the button to snap the picture. I was just going to delete it, but I thought it actually turned out pretty neat.

163/365 - Swinging

Today's adventure was a bike ride.

My total distance of the day was 41.7 miles. Whoo!

I did the first 10 miles all by myself and was the first to arrive at the lunch stop. I waited for roughly an hour or so for my friend to arrive, so we could finish the ride together.

While killing time, I spent some time swinging on the park equipment.

160/365 - Farmer's Market

Every Thursday (from April to October), the farmer's market comes to downtown.

It was a bit chilly this morning (50s. booooo! Where'd that hot weather go?), but this view of the market caught my eye as I was walking to work through the skyway.

On kind of an unrelated note, I'll be out of town this weekend. Heading up north for a weekend of kayaking and biking. I leave tomorrow (right after my final) and return sometime on Monday. I'm super excited. And nervous. And excited!! :)

The sidewalk on campus was littered with caterpillars tonight on my walk home. I had to watch every step I took to ensure that I didn't step on any by accident.

I've been biking a lot lately.

Well, a lot for me.

Today, we went for a 22-mile bike ride. We got caught in some rain/hail and had to seek shelter under an overpass for awhile. While we waited for the rain to lighten, I snapped this picture of my bike.

As I was walking to catch the shuttle this morning, the blossoms falling from the trees made it look like it was snowing. I thought it looked really neat.

I love this running trail! It's only a few blocks from my building.

I love that I can go for a "trail" run right in the city - nestled in the median of a major street.

I went for a 3 mile run this afternoon. It was really pretty, but at my turn-around point, I noticed this beach on the other side of the river. It looked like a little oasis.

It's the beginning of another winter storm.

I've heard 1-2" of snowfall.

I've heard 3-6".

Right now it's kind of snowing/hailing - making the sidewalks very slick!

64/365 - Muddy

It was a relatively nice day today, so I thought it would be fun to go for a run outside instead of at the gym on the treadmill.

I took Sallie with me. I think she needs to get more exercise. Not because she's getting overweight (she's not), but because I think exercise is just a good idea. :)

But the pictures that follow show perhaps why I should probably run alone during the snow-melting stages of Spring.

Since she was so muddy, I had Jasper meet us in the hallway with the camera. After snapping a few, we immediately placed her in the tub for a hose-down. I can't believe the amount of dirt and grit and mud washed off her.

Despite all that, we did have a decent run. She was having a ball, and I managed a 9:50 pace. :)
